Parents’ participation in designing policies on child care and protection
(VOVworld)- A workshop to discuss children’s participation in family affairs and the role of parents opened in Hanoi on Thursday in response to Action Month for Children.
Presentations at the workshop highlighted the importance of family in children’s development. The participants stressed the need to create legal corridors and favorable conditions to foster relationships within the family. They agreed on the need to organize training and communication courses to improve parents’ knowledge on caring for and raising children. Nguyen Thi Tuyet Mai is Head of the Family-Social Committee of the Vietnam Women’s Union: “Parents and family play an important role in boosting the children’s participation in family affairs thus helping to prevent conflicts, domestic violence and seeking solutions to increase children’s awareness. Ministries, sectors and organizations also need to help to raise the parents’ role in mapping out policies on child care and protection in the future”.
