(VOVworld) - Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung on Tuesday cut the ribbon to inaugurate a project to expand Highway 1A, the section from Nghi Son in Thanh Hoa province to Cau Giat in Nghe An province.

Located on the main axis of the North-South route, the 34-km section has an investment capital of nearly 194 million USD and will soon have six lanes for all types of vehicle after expansion. Addressing the ceremony, Prime Minister Dung asked investors to commit to implementing the project as scheduled, while ensuring the standards of quality and safety for workers and the environment. He also asked the Ministry of Transport, ministries, and provinces and cities through which the section runs to soon complete land clearance operations for the project. The section is due to be operational in 2015.

On the same day, Mr. Dung made an inspection tour of the project’s site, the section from the south of Ben Thuy wharf to Ha Tinh City. He then burn incense at the Truong Bon historical relic site in commemoration of 13 volunteers who laid down their lives there and inspected the progress of a project to build and preserve the relic.
