In his remark, Party leader Nguyen Phu Trong said personnel and personnel work are particularly important to Party building and the political system, and are a decisive factor for the success of the revolution.

“We must answer the question why many policies on personnel work have been largely ineffective despite the strong support from Party members, cadres, and people. It's crucial to analyze existing shortcomings and weaknesses to determine their cause and then figure out how to fix them",  Mr. Trong stressed. 

"We must develop a contingent of officials, especially at the strategic level, who are competent and committed. We need to address the problem of “buying” power and positions,” he added.

The plenum will close on Saturday.
