(VOVWORLD) - The Party Central Committee wrapped up its 7-day plenum on Sunday with a speech by Party General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong, which underlined the need to strengthen epidemic prevention, boost socioeconomic development, and enhance national security and defense.

Party leader Trong said as global uncertainties are expected to continue, Vietnam should stay on alert and prevent and control COVID-19 and emerging epidemics more effectively.
It’s crucial to maintain macroeconomic stability, control inflation, ensure major economic balances, and promoting economic restructuring in association with reforming the growth model, and improving internal strength and the self reliance and resilience of the economy, he said.
Other important tasks include improving the quality of law making and effectiveness of law enforcement, accelerating administrative reform, and streamlining the state apparatus.
It’s important to promote digital transformation, green transformation, and innovation, effectively use natural resources, and respond to climate change, according to the Party leader.
Mr. Trong called for greater efforts to step up the fight against corruption, negativity and wastefulness, consolidate national defense and security, and safeguard national independence, sovereignty, and territorial integrity.
