Party Central Committee wraps up 5th plenum

(VOVWORLD) - The 13th Party Central Committee wrapped up its 5th plenum on Tuesday after a 6-day sitting. In his address, Party General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong said the meeting discussed and agreed on solutions for continued renovation and fine-tuning legal systems and policies on land, particularly the revision of the 2013 Land Law and related laws.

Mr. Trong said it’s important to strengthen Party leadership and State management and the oversight role of the Vietnam Fatherland Front as well as social organizations to realize the land law.

Reviewing 15 years of implementation of the Party resolution on agriculture, farmers and rural areas, the Party leader said improving the living conditions of farmers and rural areas is the responsibility of the entire Party and people and the focal task of the political system.

Mr. Trong stressed the need to strengthen Party leadership, uphold the role of the leaders, and improve the performance of state agencies. He asked for serious implementation of the Resolution of the 13th National Party Congress and the Resolution of the Party Central Committee on collective economy development to meet the needs and nature of Vietnam’s socialist-oriented market economy and international integration. It’s important to pay attention to innovation development, and improvement of collective, cooperative economy with new-type cooperatives being the key and an important factor of the state economy.

At the meeting, the Party Central Committee agreed on the establishment of the provincial Steering Committee for Prevention and Control of Corruption and Negativity.
