(VOVWORLD) - Party leader Nguyen Phu Trong urged for better understanding of all-people defense, people’s warfare, and improvement of all-level state management on national defense.

Attending the 2022 national military-political conference on Tuesday, Party General Secretary Trong asked the army to strictly maintain combat readiness, manage and protect the airspace, sea, border, inland, and cyberspace, effectively respond to non-traditional and tech security challenges, and improve the quality of training, drills, and scientific research.
“It’s crucial to strictly and effectively implement the Politburo’s resolution on the organization of the Vietnam People’s Army in the 2021-2030 period. This process must be tight, resolute, and persistent with an appropriate roadmap because this is an important issue related to ideological and policy work. The army must ensure stability and increase its combat power to fulfill assigned missions,” said the Party leader.
Mr. Trong, who is also Secretary of the Central Military Commission, underlined the need to improve research and forecast capacity, work on strategic consultation related to military and national defense, and take appropriate and effective measures to prevent risk of war and conflict, and to address border and island issues.
