Party chief backs FedEx’s expansion in Vietnam
(VOVWORLD) - Party General Secretary To Lam reaffirmed his support for FedEx’s expansion in key sectors such as infrastructure, services, and transportation, helping Vietnam become a major logistics hub.

Receiving Frederick W. Smith, Founder and Executive Chairman of the US-based multinational conglomerate, in Hanoi on Tuesday, Party leader Lam expressed his hope that FedEx would prioritize Vietnam as a key market.
Mr. Smith noted Vietnam’s potential to become a leading logistics center in the region and the world. He outlined FedEx’s plans to expand operations, including strengthening its presence at Tan Son Nhat and Noi Bai international airports and exploring future investments in Long Thanh and Gia Binh airports. These efforts aim to enhance Vietnam’s transport capacity and integration into global supply chains.
Party leader Lam also encouraged FedEx and St. Jude Children's Research Hospital to expand cooperation with Vietnam in pediatric cancer treatment.
The guest pledged to engage with St. Jude’s leadership upon his return to the US to develop a concrete support plan, expressing his hope that Vietnam could achieve a pediatric cancer recovery rate of 94%, similar to that of the US.
