During the visit, General Secretary To Lam met with Lao General Secretary and President Thongloun Sisoulith and Prime Minister Sonexay Siphandone. General Secretary To Lam highlighted General Khamtay Siphandone's significant contributions as a prominent leader of Laos and a loyal, close, and devoted friend of Vietnam during its struggle for national defense and construction.

Mr. Lam said the General’s passing is a profound loss to both the Lao and Vietnamese Parties, States and people. To honor his legacy, the Party and State of Vietnam decided to hold a national mourning for General Khamtay Siphandone.

At the meetings, both sides highlighted the positive advancements in their bilateral relationship and agreed to continue exchanging delegations at all levels, especially high-level ones, and to work together to effectively implement the agreements reached between the two nations.
