(VOVworld) - Party leader Nguyen Phu Trong thanked Havard University for training many Vietnamese officials who have now held key positions in Vietnamese agencies. He expected further support from the university in scientific research and training. Trong said there are currently 17,000 Vietnamese students in the US and bilateral education cooperation is growing fast. He welcomed the idea of establishing Fulbright University in Ho Chi Minh City to address Vietnam’s requirements for highly prioritized subjects. Mr. Trong said: "I agree with your view to develop Fulbright University into a university centering on people and the cause of education and training. If this non-profit university is up and running with governance and new knowledge relevant to Vietnam’s needs, I fully support it."
Trong hoped that Fulbright University to foster education ties between Vietnam and the US, and contribute to increasing the quality of university education in Vietnam. In the presence of Party General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong, the Fulbright University Vietnam project received its investment certificate to become the first non-profit private university in the country.
