At a reception for the Russian guest in Hanoi on Wednesday, the Party leader said the Party, State, National Assembly, government, and people of Vietnam treasures the relationship with Russia, considering it a top priority in Vietnam’s foreign policy. Mr. Trong emphasized that the Communist Party of Vietnam wants to boost ties with Russia and the ruling United Russia Party. He expressed his belief that the outcomes of Matvienko’s ongoing visit will create new momentum for bilateral ties.

The Chairwoman of Russia’s Federal Council reiterated Russia’s respect for the traditional friendship and Comprehensive Strategic Partnership with Vietnam, adding that Russia will do its best to implement bilateral agreements to benefit bilateral ties. She promised that the Russian parliament will work closely with the Vietnamese National Assembly at international forums for peace, stability, and honoring international law.
