(VOVworld)- Party leader Nguyen Phu Trong received in Hanoi on Monday the President of the European Commission Jose Manuel Barroso. In his address, the EC President praised the development of comprehensive cooperation between Vietnam and the EU affirming that the EC treasured its friendship and cooperation with Vietnam and appreciated Vietnam’s role in coordinating the ASEAN-EU relationship. President Barroso stressed that the EU was working with relevant Vietnamese agencies to rapidly approve the Vietnam-EU Partnership and Cooperation and conclude the EU-Vietnam Free Trade Agreement Negotiations. Party leader Nguyen Phu Trong highlighted the significance of the EC President’s visit to Vietnam saying that it would contribute to enhancing bilateral ties. He also praised the EU’s strength in high-end human resource training. He proposed the EU support Vietnam in building and fine-tuning human resource development and management policies. He urged both sides to strengthen cooperation in other areas that the EU is strong in and that Vietnam has demands for.
