(VOVworld) – Party leader Nguyen Phu Trong has said Vietnam treasured and prioritized its friendly and cooperative ties with France.

At a reception in Hanoi on Tuesday for visiting French President Francois Hollande, Mr. Trong suggested that both sides continue to strengthen multi-faceted cooperation, experience sharing, and mutual support at international forums, as well as in maintaining the existing cooperative mechanisms.

President Hollande agreed that both sides should boost cooperation in politics, economics, trade, aviation, recycled energy, and food processing. He shared his view on the security challenges facing France and Vietnam, expressing his support for freedom of navigation and aviation and the peaceful settlement of disputes on the basis of international law.
