Party, State treasure sacrifices of soldiers and people in Northern border war
(VOVWORLD) -President Nguyen Xuan Phuc has reaffirmed that the Party and State treasure the sacrifices and contributions of officers, soldiers and people throughout the country during the Northern border war from 1979 to 1989 to defend Vietnam’s independence, unification and territorial integrity.

President Phuc met representatives of the Liaison Board of the National Veterans Association of the Vi Xuyen-Ha Tuyen front in Hanoi on Wednesday in the lead-up to the 75th War Invalids and Martyrs' Day (July 27). He said the border war on the Vi Xuyen front in Ha Giang province has always been an important part of the history of national defense.
President Phuc praised the Liaison Board for organizing many meaningful and practical activities, contributing to overcoming of war consequences and paying debt of gratitude. He called on the veterans to actively respond and well implement the guidelines of the Party, policies and laws of the State, especially advise the Party and State on war invalids and martyrs affairs and taking care of people with meritorious services.
The President asked Ha Giang province and agencies to strengthen the settlement of post-war problems in the northern border region, focusing on searching and gathering the remains of martyrs missing in action in Vi Xuyen battle.
