(VOVworld) – The 3^rd Patriotic Emulation Congress of the Vietnam Association of the Elderly opened in Hanoi on Tuesday, coinciding with the Association’s 20^th anniversary on May 10. In his address, Deputy Prime Minister Vu Duc Dam stressed the concern of the Party and state for the elderly, praising their contributions to national construction and defense. He said: “Over the past 20 years, the Vietnam Association of the Elderly has made significant contributions to Vietnam’s legislation concerning socio-economic development and the elderly. Its members have been actively involved in the patriotic emulation movement.”

The association was presented with the Labor Order, first class, to mark the occasion.
