(VOVworld) – The 12th Party Central Committee convened its first session on Wednesday to elect the politburo, the Party General Secretary, the Party Secretariat, and the Central Party Inspection Commission and its head.
The results will be announced at the closing session of the 12th National Party Congress on Thursday. On Tuesday, the congress elected 200 members of the 12th Party Central Committee, including 180 official members and 20 alternate members.
Vietnamese people have expressed their faith in the new Party Central Committee. President of Soc Trang province’s Farmers’ Association Thach Thal said: “We hope that the new Party Central Committee will do what is most beneficial to farmers such as finding markets for farm produce like rice and seafood.”
Party member Dang Tien Thanh of Lao Cai city said those elected to the Party Central Committee are all worthy: “There are many first-time members of the Party Central Committee. Those elected are the most prominent. The congress was well prepared. I hope that the new Party Central Committee will show good leadership.”
President of Vietnamese Association in the Czech Republic Hoang Dinh Thang said he hopes the 12th National Party Congress will devise major directions for national development, which will improve Vietnam’s global status in the new period.
