Phu Quoc island should become world-class tourism hub: PM
(VOVWORLD) - The southern province of Kien Giang boasts all the necessary advantages to shine as an appealing destination for foreign tourists and investors, said Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc.

Mr. Phuc told an investment promotion conference in Kien Giang on Monday that the province, with Phu Quoc island being a jewel in the crown, should focus on high-quality agriculture adaptive to climate change, organic seafood production targeting high-end consumers, and eco-tourism.
“Given its geographical advantage, the marine-based economy, abundant agricultural resources, and unique tropical tourism services, Kien Giang should become a wealthier and more dynamic and innovative province in the southwestern region. A new vision should be adopted to transform Phu Quoc island into a world-class tourism and entertainment center which can compete with other countries,” said Mr. Phuc.
To attract more investment in the province, Prime Minister Phuc suggested that Kien Giang improve its Provincial Competitiveness Index. The same day, Prime Minister Phuc attended a ceremony to announce 6 new routes to and from Phu Quoc by budget carrier Vietjet Air.
