(VOVWORLD) - The Kurdistan Workers' Party (PKK) has admitted to carrying out a suicide attack on a government building in Ankara on Sunday.

In a statement to the ANF news agency, the PKK confirmed that the attack on the Turkish Interior Ministry was executed by members of the group's “Immortal Brigade.”
One attacker died after detonating a bomb, while the other was killed in a shootout with the police. At least two police officers were injured during the incident. The Turkish Interior Ministry has confirmed that this was a "terrorist attack".
Numerous countries, including the US, UK, Germany, and countries in the Middle East and North Africa, condemned the attack and expressed support and solidarity for the Turkish Government.
The PKK has been designated a terrorist organization by the Turkish Government, as well as by the US and the EU.
