PM calls on Samsung to expand semiconductor manufacturing in Vietnam
(VOVWORLD) - Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh has called on the Republic of Korea’s Samsung Group to expand its investment in semiconductor manufacturing, one of the groups’ three strengths together with its existing production lines for mobile devices and consumer electronics products so as to finalize Samsung’s electrical and electronics production chain in Vietnam.

Receiving Samsung Electronics CEO Roh Tae-Moon in Hanoi on Friday, Prime Minister Chinh said he hopes Samsung will expand its business and investment, considers Vietnam an important country in a more comprehensive global strategy for production, research and development of Samsung's key products.
He called for practical activities to celebrate the 30th anniversary of the Vietnam-Republic of Korea diplomatic relations this year.
CEO Roh praised Vietnam's efforts in COVID-19 prevention and control and socio-economic recovery and thanked the Vietnamese Government and agencies to helping Samsung overcome difficulties caused by the pandemic.
Samsung targets to earn an export value of 69 billion USD, invest another 3.3 billion USD and will continue to expand investment in Vietnam this year.
