Speaking at the opening session of the Fourth Asia-Europe Meeting (ASEM) Labor and Employment Ministers' Conference in Hanoi on Thursday, Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung said that the event serves as an opportunity to promote cooperation in labor and employment among its member countries for the purposes of sustainable economic recovery and growth: “Member countries should promote exchange of experience in policy making on labor and social welfare to ensure sustainable development and implement the Millennium Development Goals. Economic recovery must foster sustainable employment. ASEM countries should promote cooperation in vocational training and job creation, labor safety and hygiene, especially for women, youth and people with disability.”
The Prime Minister said that Vietnam always attaches importance to economic development and social welfare protection. He pledges to promote ASEAM cooperation for world peace, stability and development.
During the conference themed "Social protection and employment - a key to inclusive growth", delegates will discuss recent financial and economic crisis and highlight the importance of employment and social protection for a sustainable and inclusive growth.
