(VOVworld) - Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc began an official visit to Laos on Wednesday at the invitation of Prime Minister Thoonglun Sisoulith. This is the first official visit to Laos since Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc took office and it is an important diplomatic event to herald the Vietnam-Laos Friendship and Solidarity Year 2017. The visit manifests Vietnam’s policy of attaching importance to reinforcing the traditional friendship, special solidarity, and comprehensive cooperation with Laos in an extensive, more practical and efficient manner.

PM Nguyen Xuan Phuc begins official visit to Laos

During the visit, Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc is scheduled to hold talks with his Lao counterpart Thoonglun Sisoulith, pay a courtesy visit to Party General Secretary and State President Bounnhang Volachith, and meet with National Assembly Chairwoman Pany Yathotou. He will attend a ceremony to launch the Vietnam-Laos Friendship and Solidarity Year 2017 and other activities.

On Tuesday, Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc received Ms Men Sam An, President of the Cambodia-Vietnam Friendship Association, Deputy Prime Minister, and Minister of Relations with the Parliament, Senate, and Inspection. He also visited Great Supreme Patriarch of Cambodia Samdech Tep Vong on the occasion of Laos’ traditional New Year festival.
