PM Nguyen Xuan Phuc receives Haiti's Senate President in Hanoi on June 21, 2017.

At a meeting with President of the Senate of Haiti Youri Latortue in Hanoi on Tuesday, Prime Minister Phuc said Vietnam is improving its investment environment. He urged the two sides to enhance cooperation and mutual support at international organizations and forums, especially at the UN. Mr. Phuc said the Vietnamese government wanted to work with the Haitian government to make bilateral ties more practical and effective. He suggested the two countries strengthen cooperation in telecommunications, agriculture, construction, tourism, culture, energy, electronic accessories, and consumption goods. Mr. Latortue said Haiti wants to cooperate with Vietnam in agriculture. He expressed his hope that Vietnam will soon open its embassy in Haiti to further multi-faceted partnerships between the two countries.

The Haitian Senate President was also received by Party General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong, who said that Vietnam pursues a consistent policy of respecting friendship and cooperation with Haiti.
