PM promises business support for Goldman Sachs
(VOVworld) – Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc received Andrea Vella, head of the US-based multinational investment banking firm’s Asia division, in Hanoi on Tuesday.
Mr. Phuc said he hopes as a leading investment bank, Goldman Sachs will share its experience with Vietnam and partner with Vietnamese banks and firms to help Vietnam become a major investment target in the region. He said Vietnam needs substantial and long-term capital for infrastructure development and encourages direct investment or public-private partnership investment in rural development and climate change adaptation. He said he hopes that Goldman Sachs will become involved in the equitization of Vietnamese enterprises and in mergers and acquisitions in Vietnam. He added that Vietnam is committed to stabilizing its macro-economy and helping foreign investors with their long-term operations in Vietnam. Vella said Goldman Sachs is calling for investment and cooperation in Vietnam’s infrastructure ramp-up.
