PM receives leaders of groups from Saudi Arabia, Persian Gulf

(VOVWORLD) - Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh on Wednesday received leaders of major groups from Saudi Arabia and the Persian Gulf in Riyadh as part of his trip to attend the ASEAN-Gulf Cooperation Council Summit and visit Saudi Arabia.

PM Chinh said strengthening win-win economic cooperation is one of the top priorities of the Vietnamese delegation during this trip to Saudi Arabia.

He said Vietnam will build a safe, transparent, highly competitive business and investment environment and protect the legal rights and interests of foreign investors.

The PM noted that Vietnam has participated in many free trade agreements, has a favorable geographical location and a developed logistics system, and easily connects to other countries in the region and the world. Vietnam is ready to welcome investors, and will create the most favorable conditions for corporations to do business sustainably, he said.

Abdulrahman Al Zamil, Chairman of the Zamil Group which has been in Vietnam since 1993, praised Vietnam’s improved business and investment climate, and said his group has high expectations for Vietnam and its favorable geographical location in the company’s export activities.

Shehim Kottilingal, Director of LuLu, a retail group with hypermarkets in 23 countries and territories, praised Vietnam’s investment environment, especially its political and social stability.

He said his group will expand its business activities by constructing warehouses, doubling or tripling its import of Vietnamese goods, and making detailed plans for importing Vietnamese garments and footwear. He said the two countries should open a direct air route to facilitate importing fresh vegetables and fruits from Vietnam.

Ali Al-Khatib, Deputy CEO for Investment and Portfolio of Ajlan & Bros Holding, which leads Saudi Arabia and the Persian Gulf in the garment and textile field, said the group considers Vietnam a priority market and wants to cooperate with Vietnamese businesses in areas where the group is expanding investment and in which Vietnam has advantages, such as farm produce, agricultural processing, and high tech.
