Leading a government meeting on Tuesday, the Prime Minister said the Hanoi-Hai Phong-Quang Ninh economic region in the north has great potential to attract investment in high technology, processing and manufacturing, services, finance, logistics, and high-tech agriculture, among others. 

He urged the central economic region to focus on the maritime economy, automobile manufacturing, forwarding services, and particularly tourism.

Mr. Phuc wanted the central and central highlands region to develop a key tourism region while asking the southern region to attract large-scale investment and high technology, take the lead in value chains, and bring the locomotive role of Ho Chi Minh city into play to develop the region into the main driver of national economic growth in 2020.

He stressed the importance of strengthening hi-tech agriculture focusing on shrimp, tra fish, and fruits in the Mekong Delta.
