Chairing the first meeting of the Steering Committee for Key National Railway Projects on Saturday. the Prime Minister highlighted the railway system as a vital transport lifeline that drives economic growth and international integration, calling for strong determination and coordinated efforts to ensure timely progress.
Regarding the Lao Cai - Hanoi - Hai Phong high-speed railway project, the Prime Minister noted its significance as Vietnam’s first long-distance high-speed rail link with China. He stressed the need for bilateral coordination to balance interests and confirmed that construction is expected to begin in December 2025.
Additionally, the Prime Minister emphasized prioritizing the Hanoi - Lang Son and Hai Phong - Ha Long - Mong Cai railway segments to boost tourism and economic potential. He urged relevant agencies to address challenges, expedite site clearance, optimize financial mechanisms, diversify funding sources, and enhance oversight to prevent losses and inefficiencies.
