(VOVWORLD) -Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh has requested the Ministry of Health to closely monitor the pandemic situation caused by the new COVID-19 variant Omicron and prepare vaccines, therapeutic drugs and measures to prevent and control the pandemic on the basis of World Health Organization’s recommendations, the Government Office said in a document on Tuesday.

The Prime Minister asked the Ministry of Health to direct localities to strengthen pandemic measures, speed up the vaccination, strengthen medical personnel and supplies for areas with complicated pandemic developments and take appropriate measures for early treatment of new cases.
The Ministry of Health shall guide and create favorable conditions for urgent import and production of drugs to treat COVID-19 cases and promote testing, technology transfer, production of COVID-19 vaccines and drugs in the country, according to the document.
