Mr. Phuc told a ceremony in Hanoi on Saturday to honor outstanding farmers during the renewal process that farmers, who account for two thirds of Vietnamese population, have been serving as the cornerstone for national socio-economic development. He urged relevant authorities to restructure agriculture and improve the performance of cooperatives.
“The Vietnam Farmers’ Association should help its members strengthen connectivity, restructure their production toward mass commodity production models, and encourage businesses to get involved in agricultural production and trade. It’s crucial to focus more on quality and added values than quantity and expand effective production models,” PM Phuc said.
