Meeting with key provincial leaders in Khanh Hoa, Prime Minister Chinh said “Efforts should be made to develop Truong Sa into the maritime socio-economic center of the whole country and a solid stronghold for protecting national sovereignty over seas and islands on the basis of our laws and international law, especially the 1982 United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea (UNCLOS)."
Mr. Chinh urged Khanh Hoa to develop sea and island tourism and high-quality services, industry, seaport, sea transport, aviation, coastal urban areas, aquaculture, and processing of aquatic products.
"As soon as the planning is completed, priority is given to the implementation, first of all, focusing on resources for fishing logistics and for people to continue participating in socio-economic development, stabilize their life and particularly strengthen national defense and security in this Truong Sa island district,” he said.
The Prime Minister requested Khanh Hoa province to accelerate economic restructuring, innovate growth model, promote digital transformation, and improve the quality of human resources. Khanh Hoa needs to strengthen cooperation with the South Central region, Central Highlands, localities at home and abroad, economic groups, and international financial institutions in order to maximize internal resources, potentials, and advantages of the province, Mr. Chinh said.
