(VOVWORLD) - President Vo Van Thuong attended a ceremony to present the titles of People’s Artist and Meritorious Artist to 389 artists who have made outstanding contributions and had a long‑term commitment in culture and art.

Addressing the ceremony on Wednesday, the President said the honored artists have created many good works to enrich Vietnam’s cultural life. They vividly reflect the country’s great innovation, and contribute to building the social and cultural foundation.
President Thuong said: “People’s Artists and Meritorious Artists are a precious asset of the country. Despite their age or ethnicity, they have made valuable contributions to Vietnamese culture and the nation’s great achievements.”

President Thuong called on the artists to further promote the strength of culture and Vietnamese people in the new era.
“The most important task is to promote the good values of Vietnamese culture and quality of life of Vietnamese citizens in the new era. The artists should encourage the aspiration and will to rise up, with a sense of responsibility, discipline, creativity, national pride, solidarity, and the determination to develop a strong and prosperous country, and a civilized and progressive society,” President Thuong said.
