(VOVworld) - Speaking at the White House Sunday afternoon, President Barack Obama called the nightclub shooting in Orlando city an "act of terror" and an "act of hate".

He made a televised speech after a gunman stormed Pulse Orlando, killing at least 50 people and wounding 53 others. Obama said the mass shooting was the worst in American history. He said Americans will be united in grief and in outrage.

Obama directed law enforcement agencies to use all necessary means to prevent more attacks.

US media are reporting that IS has claimed responsibility for the attack.
