Upon his arrival, President Quang visited Gunma Prefecture, which is home to 3,000 Vietnamese nationals. An official welcome ceremony is scheduled for Wednesday at the Imperial Palace in Tokyo under the chair of Emperor Akihito. Vietnam and Japan are celebrating the 45th anniversary of diplomatic ties this year.

To mark the occasion, Professor Go Ito from Meji University told the Vietnam News Agency that President Quang’s visit is an important milestone, serving as a starting point for further strengthening bilateral cooperation across fields.

He said Vietnam plays an important role in Japan’s political and economic relations, and both sides share common concerns over security challenges, especially navigation security, safety and freedom in the East Sea. 

Professor Ito noted that the number of Vietnamese students in Japan is rapidly increasing, contributing to promoting not only education and training cooperation but also cultural exchanges between the two countries.
