President calls for activities to mark 50 years of diplomatic ties with Japan in 2023

(VOVWORLD) -President Nguyen Xuan Phuc on Wednesday expressed his hope to welcome the Emperor, Empress and senior leaders of Japan to visit Vietnam as the two countries will celebrate the 50th anniversary of their diplomatic relations next year. He asked the two countries' authorities to organize well commemorative activities to cherish the comprehensive strategic partnership between Vietnam and Japan.

President Phuc made the statement at a reception on Wednesday in Hanoi for a delegation from the Youth Division of the Liberal Democratic Party (LDP) of Japan led by Suzuki Norikaru, member of the House of Representatives and Sato Kei, member of the House of Councilors and Acting Head of the Youth Division.
The President applauded the visit of the delegation and suggested that the Youth Committee of the Liberal Democratic Party of Japan promote political trust and cooperation with Vietnam and exchange of delegations.
He asked Japan to support Vietnam in post-pandemic recovery especially in investment, trade, innovation, digital transformation, and green conversion as well as closely coordinate to promote Japan to soon become the number 1 investor in Vietnam through the effective implementation of the Asia Future Investment Initiative.
Representative Suzuki Norikazu said that the Japanese MPs will continue to promote the good relationship between the two countries and wish to participate in organizing many meaningful and practical activities on the occasion of the 50th anniversary of their diplomatic relations in 2023.
