Co-chairing the media conference with Lao Party General Secretary and President Bounnhang Vorachith, Mr Quang said that both countries have organized hundreds of activities to mark 40 years of the signing of the Vietnam-Laos Treaty of Amity and Cooperation and the 55th anniversary of diplomatic ties: “The year 2017, a festival of both peoples and of bilateral solidarity and friendship, has been a success and a glorious landmark in Vietnam-Laos ties. Such activities have created emulation movements with widespread influence and provided opportunities to raise awareness of sectors, localities, and people, mostly young people, about the importance of the traditional alliance and heartfelt support between the two Parties, States, and peoples during the past struggles for national independence and the current national construction and development.”

President Quang said the spirit and success of the Vietnam-Laos Solidarity and Friendship Year will create momentum to lift bilateral ties to new heights for the benefits of the two peoples, and for peace, stability, and development.

The Lao leader called on the people of both countries, especially young people to preserve and develop the Vietnam-Laos great friendship, special solidarity, and comprehensive cooperation. He confirmed Laos’ resolve to join efforts with Vietnam in forging closer ties.
