President pays tribute to war martyrs in Quang Tri
(VOVWORLD) -President Nguyen Xuan Phuc on Friday offered incense and flowers at the Quang Tri ancient citadel, a special national relic site, in memory of soldiers who sacrificed their lives in the 81-day fierce battle in the summer of 1972.

During the anti-US war of resistance, thousands of Vietnamese soldiers died in the battle to defend Quang Tri ancient citadel.
President Phuc also symbolically performed the issuance of a collection of stamp to mark 50 years of defending Quang Tri citadel.
Earlier the same day, the President paid tribute to the late Party General Secretary Le Duan at his memorial site in Trieu Phong district. He also inaugurated the Trieu Thanh school in Trieu Phong. President Phuc attended an event to start construction of a 55km-long coastal road connecting the East-West Economic Corridor.
