President pledges more care for invalids and martyrs' families

(VOVWORLD) - On the occasion of the 74th anniversary of War Invalids and Martyrs' Day, on Friday, President Nguyen Xuan Phuc visited and presented gifts to wounded soldiers at the Center for Severely Injured Soldiers and People with Meritorious Services in Ha Nam province. He also visited and gave gifts to Vietnamese Heroic Mothers and war invalids.

The President expressed gratitude for the great losses and sacrifices of heroes, martyrs, wounded and sick soldiers, and people with great merits across the country for national independence and freedom. He said that after resistance wars to protect the Fatherland, Vietnam has 1.2 million martyrs, nearly 10 million people with meritorious services, 140,000 Vietnamese Heroic Mothers, of them 4,180 mothers are is still alive, and 600,000 wounded and sick soldiers. The Party, State and local authorities have always paid attention to them, said President Nguyen Xuan Phuc.

“The Government will adopt a new Decree on policies for people with meritorious services, in which the level of support such as gift giving will increase by 1.5 times. We are determined to raise the living standard of families of meritorious people and families of war invalids and martyrs. Now, 97% of them have a living standard equal or higher than the local average. All Vietnamese Heroic Mothers are cared for. We continue to do our best to take care of families of meritorious people and families of war invalids and martyrs,” said President Phuc.
