(VOVWORLD) - Russian President Vladimir Putin on Friday had phone calls with several world leaders to discuss the crisis in Ukraine, according to the Kremlin.

Talking with French President Emmanuel Macron, Putin explained the reasons and circumstances for his decision to order a special military operation. The two presidents agreed to maintain contact.
Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi was informed about how the Ukraine situation has evolved. Raisi said he understands Russia's security concerns about the destabilizing actions of the United States and the NATO.
Putin also had a brief exchange with Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi about Russia's viewpoint on the Ukraine issue, emphasizing that Kyiv government has not respected the Minsk Peace Agreements.
According to diplomatic sources at the UN, the US and Albania on Friday called on the UN Security Council to vote on a draft resolution denouncing Moscow's move and demanding a withdrawal of Russia from Ukraine.
