President receives 7 new ambassadors

(VOVworld) – President Truong Tan Sang received the ambassadors of Sierra Leone, Iceland, Tunisia, Tanzania, Guatemala, Georgia, and Mali who came to present their credentials on Wednesday.

Receiving Sierra Leone’s ambassador Victor Bockarie foh, President Sang called for Sierra Leone’s support for Vietnam’s bid to join the UN Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC) and to become a non-permanent member of the UN Security Council for the 2020-2021 term as well as its recognition of Vietnam’s market economy. Welcoming ambassador Stefan Skjadarson of Iceland, President Sang said that Vietnam wanted to strengthen ties with Iceland. He told the ambassador of Tunisia Tarek Amri that Vietnam valued relations with African nations including Tunisia and called for Tunisia’s support for Vietnam’s bid to join ECOSOC and for UN Security Council non-permanent membership. President Sang expressed his hope that Tanzania and ambassador Abdul Rahaman Amiri Simbo would support Vietnam’s efforts to join UNESCO for the 2015-2019 term and ECOSOC and for UN Security Council non-permanent membership. He talked to the ambassador of Guatemala Gustavo Lopez Calderon saying that as a member of ASEAN, Vietnam was ready to help Guatemala expand bilateral cooperation with other ASEAN countries. He expressed his delight at the steady development of Georgia and said that ambassador David Aptsiauri would continue to boost friendship and cooperation between the two countries. President Sang welcomed the ambassador of Mali Langxina Bua Kone and hoped that both countries would enhance bilateral cooperation, particularly in economics and trade.
