(VOVworld) – President Truong Tan Sang received outgoing World Bank country director Victoria Kwakwa in Hanoi on Wednesday.

He thanked the World Bank and Ms. Kwakwa for helping Vietnam in some of the most difficult periods, adding that World Bank projects have helped Vietnam reduce poverty and achieve many Millennium Development Goals. President Sang called for continued World Bank support in finance and policy consultations in its legislation. He briefed Ms. Kwakwa on Vietnam’s plan to zone off irrigation canals and build dykes to prevent saltwater intrusion in the Mekong Delta. Ms. Kwakwa said the World Bank will continue to cooperate with Vietnam in addressing climate change.
