President To Lam praises religious organizations’ contributions to national development

At a meeting with representatives of religious dignitaries and followers in Hanoi on Thursday, President To Lam reiterated the Vietnamese Party and State’s respect for freedom of religion and belief of all citizens, considering it a just need of the people.
He said the Vietnamese Party and State always pay attention to and create conditions for religious followers to practice their religion and encourage them to contribute to national development.
The State President expressed his belief that religious organizations, dignitaries and followers will uphold the fine moral value of religions and engage in the cause of national construction and defense.
According to a report of the Ministry of Home Affairs, by May the Vietnamese State has granted operation licenses to more than 40 organizations of 16 religions with more than 27 million followers.
