(VOVworld) – President Tran Dai Quang met 68 representatives of innovative cooperatives and farmers, who were to attend a ceremony to mark the 71st founding anniversary of the agriculture and rural development sector in Hanoi on Sunday night.

At the meeting in the Presidential Palace earlier Sunday, President Quang said industrialization and modernization of agriculture and rural areas is a primary task of Vietnam. He added the Party and State pay great attention to developing agriculture and rural areas and improving farmers’ livelihoods via 2 major programs, including restructuring agriculture and building new-style rural areas. Mr. Quang urged the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development to work closely with relevant agencies to increase the sector’s competitiveness and farmers’ income. He expressed his hope that the delegates would continue to be innovative in their production and to implement the Party and State policies on agriculture, farmers, and rural areas.
