(VOVworld) – The APEC CEO summit took place in Beijing, China as part of the on-going APEC summit. It’s a venue for businesses to discuss and put forward their proposals to APEC leaders.

Vietnamese President Truong Tan Sang delivered a keynote speech about regional connectivity and priorities on investment, infrastructure, and policies. He underscored that the Asia-Pacific will have new, big opportunities from the formation of the ASEAN community and new generation free trade agreements including the Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership (RCEP), the Trans-Pacific Partnership (TPP), and Northeast Asia cooperation.
President Sang highlighted ASEAN’s contributions to boosting free trade and investment within APEC and the Asia-Pacific, including the Bogo Goals in Indonesia in 1994, the Hanoi initiative of the Asia-Pacific Free Trade Area in 2006, the Singapore initiative of regional sustainable development and connectivity in 2009, and the approval of the APEC long-term plan on infrastructure and investment development in Bali, Indonesia, in 2013.
The President said Vietnam is enhancing its regional integration. He called on businesses to continue to provide Vietnam with financial and technical assistance to upgrade infrastructure. He said Vietnam is giving priority to the construction of the East-West Economic Corridor in the expanded Greater Mekong Sub-region, the Cambodia-Laos-Vietnam Triangle Development Area, the southern and south northern economic corridors, sea ports, industrial zones, and border economic regions. On Monday, President Sang and APEC leaders attended a dialogue of the APEC Business Advisory Council, ABAC. They acknowledged ABAC practical recommendations to enhance regional economic association.
