Held in Bandung from April 18 to 24, 1955, the initial Asian-African Conference marked the first time that 29 Asian and African countries, including Vietnam, gathered to foster cooperation. The event laid the foundation for the establishment of other frameworks and groups, including the Non-Aligned Movement (NAM), Group 77, and the South-South Cooperation Agreement. Currently, Vietnam has diplomatic relations with 52 of the 55 African nations, and trade relations with all of them. Two-way trade totaled 4.3 billion USD in 2013.
In the afternoon of Tuesday, President Sang and NA vice chairman Uong Chu Luu visited the Vietnamese embassy in Indonesia. President Sang said he hoped the embassy staff and Vietnamese representative agencies will continue to implement Vietnam's foreign policy, contributing to Vietnam-Indonesia strategic partnership. He urged the Vietnamese community to stay united and further promote relations between the two countries.
