During their talks in Brunei capital of Bandar Seri Begawan on Tuesday, Vietnamese President Truong Tan Sang and Sultan Hassanal Bolkiah agreed to promote high level visits and people exchanges to strengthen mutual understanding and cooperation

They agreed on the possibility of setting up a hot line between the two countries’ naval forces and signing of an anti-crime agreement. They welcomed the memoranda of understanding to boost cooperation between the two countries’ central banks and oil and gas groups. They urged ministries from both sides to accelerate the negotiation for cooperative agreements in investment protection and promotion, aquaculture, labor and maritime transport.
Both leaders pledged mutual support in international fora, especially within the ASEAN and the United Nations for the building of an ASEAN community by 2015. They agreed on the principles of ensuring peace, stability and maritime freedom in the East Sea and the settlement of disputes through peaceful means based on international law. They welcomed the ASEAN 6 point declaration and the joint declaration by ASEAN and China on the occasion of the 10th anniversary of the DOC.
