(VOVworld) – President Truong Tan Sang has asked the naval force to improve its defense capacity and stay alert amidst complicated developments in the region and the world.

At a meeting on Saturday with outstanding naval soldiers, President Sang highlighted the navy’s important tasks in Vietnam’s renewal process and international integration, including protecting national sea and island sovereignty and fishermen, boosting national maritime economy, and improving maritime science and research activities.  He urged the naval force to strengthen external policies to help international friends understand Vietnam’s policies and guidelines in order to maintain peace, stability, and security in the region in accordance with international law.
