President underlines Students’ Day
(VOVworld) - State President Truong Tan Sang has highlighted the importance of education of patriotism for younger generation. The President was speaking at a meeting in Da Nang on Wednesday with local students and those who participated in the students’ movement in southern Vietnam from 1954 to 1975. The meeting was held to mark the 63rd anniversary of the Traditional Day of Vietnamese students. President Sang said: “Today, January 9 is the Traditional Day of students. This day 63 years ago, many students sacrificed their lives for national independence and freedom. The Vietnamese Party and State and people highly appreciated great contribution made by Vietnamese soldiers and students. I hope that the officials who represented the students and intellectual movements from 1954 to 1975 to further contribute to the education of younger generations”.
The President asked teachers at Duy Tan university to improve the quality of teaching and learning. The same day, he visited and presented gifts to workers at Rong bridge construction site and staff and patients at Da Nang Tumor Hospital.
