The trip is part of the 13th National Party Congress’s foreign policy of comprehensive and extensive international integration and the Secretariat's Directive on elevating multilateral external relations. The President's attendance at the coronation ceremony of King Charles III shows Vietnam's respect for the British Royal Family and the Vietnam-UK strategic partnership.
Vietnamese Ambassador to the UK Nguyen Hoang Long said this is the second visit to the UK by the Vietnamese President after nearly two decades, when the relationship between the two countries is flourishing. In 2023, Vietnam and the UK are celebrating the 50th anniversary of diplomatic relations.
