(VOVworld) – A press conference on the agenda for the 24^th Global Summit of Women took place in Paris, France on May 5. The event was co-hosted by President of the Global Summit of Women 2014 Irene Natividad, French Minister of Women’s Rights Najat Vallaud Belkacem, and Vietnamese Vice President Nguyen Thi Doan.

Ms. Natividad said the summit, themed “Women: Redesigning Economies, Societies” would discuss lessons and measures to enhance women’s engagement in socio-economic restructuring in countries and the world. She introduced Vietnam as a successful model in ensuring gender equality and promoting women’s leading positions in the administration and businesses.

Vietnamese Vice President Nguyen Thi Doan explained Vietnam’s achievements in socio-economic development, including the UN’s recognition that Vietnam had fulfilled 6 of the 8 Millennium Development Goals. Ms. Doan said women had contributed significantly to national achievements.

The 2014 Global Summit of Women takes place from June 4-7.
