The Prime Minister congratulated the medical staff of the Vietnam National Cancer Hospital on Thursday while attending a ceremony celebrating the hospital’s 50th anniversary and receiving the Independence Order, third class.
Prime Minister Phuc applauded the national hospital’s technological transfer to empower local hospitals, helping to reduce the overloading. The proportion of patients sent to central-level hospitals from the oncology center in Phu Tho has dropped from 75% in 2013 to 1% recently and from the oncology center in Bac Ninh down from 80% to 10%.
The Vietnam National Cancer Hospital is one of the four hospitals totally economically independent from the state subsidy. Prime Minister Phuc said: “The Vietnam National Cancer Hospital, as a leading specialized hospital, should strive to become a leading oncology center in the region with high-quality treatment. The hospital should improve its services, taking patients’ satisfaction as a measurement of its performance, and promote the operation of its robot surgery center and drug dispensing center. The hospital must apply cutting-edge surgical technologies and radio-therapy using proton and heavy ion beams.”
Prime Minister Phuc asked the hospital to ensure the interests of health insurance card holders, policy beneficiaries, and poor patients, while mobilizing social resources to support poor child patients and those living in underprivileged areas.
Prime Minister Phuc earlier visited the hospital’s high-tech models and presented gifts to its patients.
