(VOVWORLD) -In order to promote vaccine diplomacy, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh has just sent a letter to Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus, Director General of the World Health Organization (WHO), suggesting that WHO gives priority to providing vaccines to Vietnam in the upcoming COVAX vaccine distribution as much as possible and as soon as possible.

In the letter, Prime Minister Chinh said that Vietnam is facing a large-scale outbreak of pandemic caused by the Delta variant and expressed his hope that WHO will continue to offer medical supplies and transfer mRNA vaccine technology to help Vietnam get through this difficult time. In particular, Vietnam hopes to soon welcome a delegation of WHO experts to exchange and provide specific instructions on supporting domestic vaccine research and production, he said.
The Prime Minister emphasized that Vietnam supports WHO's role in promoting international cooperation in pandemic response and equitable access to diagnosis, treatment, and vaccines against COVID-19.
