(VOVWORLD) - Vietnamese and Cuban leaders have reaffirmed the unshakable solidarity and spirit of mutual assistance between the two countries, and agreed to seek measures that will enhance the special bilateral ties.

During a phone call on Monday, Vietnamese President Nguyen Xuan Phuc and Miguel Díaz-Canel, President of Cuba and First Secretary of the Communist Party of Cuba’s Central Committee, also agreed to strengthen cooperation and exchange experience in building socialism.
President Phuc proposed that leaders of the two countries continue to develop their cooperation in all fields, including effectively deploying collaboration mechanisms and food production programs in Cuba, and continuing the growth of bilateral trade and investment ties.
He said the effective cooperation between Vietnam and Cuba on COVID-19 vaccines vividly demonstrates the special solidarity between the two countries, and reiterated Vietnam’s strong support of UN General Assembly resolutions demanding an end to blockades and embargos against Cuba.
President Díaz-Canel underlined Cuba’s great attention to vaccine cooperation with Vietnam, and said that before the end of this year, Cuba will supply a large number of Abdala vaccine doses, as well as send experts to transfer vaccine production technology to Vietnam.
